Parathyroidectomy Surgery

 [Up to Gallery]

Two key moments of surgery to remove an enlarged paraythyroid gland are presented in a projection slide format.

The left lobe of the thyroid gland is gently retracted to expose the enlarged left superior paraythroid gland with the surgeon taking care to not injure the left recurrent laryngeal nerve and inferior thyroid artery (identified in a previous slide). The left inferior parathyroid gland is depicted at normal size for comparison.
